About Sane-Wedding-Planning.com

Sane Wedding Planning About page picSane-Wedding-Planning.com is run by Michelle Ellingsworth, a cable television writer/producer and an expert on wedding planning and fashion.

She now manages this style-on-a-budget wedding website full-time and writes wedding and fashion related books.

For Michelle, weddings are a family thing. Her mother was a professional wedding cake baker, extraordinary cook and an inventor.

Michelle’s family owns the patent on a special wedding cake pan that will be manufactured in 2012.

Sane Wedding Planning About page mom picFounded in 2009, Sane-Wedding-Planning.com was forged in the post-economic-crash-world of doing more with less.

If you are a stylish engaged couple who has decided to step away from the insanity of the commercial wedding machine, but still desires a lovely wedding, this website is for you.

Sane-Wedding-Planning.com does encourage some DIY wedding projects to save money, although this is not a full-on DIY wedding projects website (to save sanity).

Michelle advocates looking inward, not outward, for wedding inspiration and ideas. Don’t ask your friends what they did for their wedding, or spend $50 on bridal magazines. At least not at first.

Celebrity culture and bridal magazines have raised the bar of our wedding expectations. Many engaged couples believe they must invite the world, wear high-end designer wedding gowns and tuxedos, hire a makeup artist and hairstylist as well as an event planner to drape everything with decorations and expensive flowers.

Stop the madness.

All you need to have an amazing wedding on a tight budget is careful planning, a little creativity and thoughtful attention to details -- not a heavy load of debt because you planned a wedding similar to the one your cousin had 10 years ago, or the wedding in the latest bridal magazine.

These are different times that call for a different approach to just about everything.

The New Wedding is a little smaller, a little less traditional (ahem, commercial), a little more creative and a lot more personal.

Best of all, these weddings are less costly and more meaningful.
