Spring wedding themes will naturally focus on the idea of new life and new beginnings, and in some ways it is the easiest time of year in which to have your wedding. The bursting forth of bright perennial flowers follows the end of winter.
Knowing this, you should be thinking about a floral theme, giving your wedding that brilliant and breezy feeling, which makes it hard to get the wrong colors.
Spring Color Themes
Spring themes will always dictate the colors that you will use throughout your wedding.
Skip the metallic color combinations of fall and winter and embrace spring greens and pastels. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to add accents to the bridesmaids’ dresses that can be repeated in table decorations, ties and hair accessories for the brides.
While white will always be a suitable choice, traditional accent colors for spring wedding themes include:
Mixed pastels – Look to the flowers that grow in the spring for inspiration. You can choose to have white as the central color with pastel accents, and have each bridesmaid in a different pastel dress, or have the maid of honor in a different color.
White, green and ivory – This is a very sophisticated color palette of whites, ivory and creams combined with spring green. The flowers should be whites and creams and the bridesmaid dresses a shade of green.
White, cream and pale pink – This is a very feminine color combination that can also include cream, green and an additional shade of pink. Allow a neutral like white or cream to dominate decorations and accent with pink.
Spring green and peach - with white or ivory this is a warm and inviting color combination best for those who don't embrace super feminine pinks and lavenders. A pinky-peach looks good on all skin tones so this is a good color for bridesmaid dresses.
Lavender, pale green and white - Make white the dominant color and accent with green and lavender. The bridesmaid dresses can be lavender or green with lavender sashes.

It will be hard to find spring wedding themes without reference to flowers, so why not make the flower your theme? Let the colors of the flower dictate your color scheme and have the flower on your invitations, the wedding cake and in the bridal bouquet.
You can choose traditional wedding flowers like roses and irises, but spring time offers you a variety of fresh flowers to use which will be easier to source and much less expensive than out of season bouquets. Some spring flowers to consider include:
Tulips – Tulips always come in very bold, eye-catching colors so they make the perfect centerpiece for your wedding. They are quite fragile flowers, so it will be more difficult to use them in your bouquet.
Hyacinths – these flowers give off a fresh fragrance long after they’ve been picked (be careful, the scent can be strong). They come in much more mild colors than the tulips so are more suited for more formal spring wedding themes.
Lily of the Valley – A little more expensive, these tend to bloom only in April and May, but the little white bell shaped flowers are delicate and perfect for a sophisticated white and green color palette.
Stargazer Lilies– If you want the bright color of a tulip, in a flower that will stay fresh from through the wedding, the pictures and to the end of the reception, consider beautiful stargazer lilies.
Garden Wedding
A garden wedding is a very strong theme for spring, but be prepared for unpredictable weather - a cold snap or rain - and have a back up plan like a heated tent or an indoor space.
The best spring wedding themes are those that take advantage of the natural colors returning to the world after winter, and by using local and in season produce you can save yourself money on catering as well as flowers.
